What is SEO? (Search Engine Optimization)
What exactly is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It can be defined as the practice of improving the
visibility and ranking of a website on major search engines like Google, Bing or Yahoo!.
At the minimum, basic SEO
is imperative for all websites in order to achieve some level of traffic on the Internet. The fact that the
majority of Internet users use search engines underscores the importance of SEO. Google, Bing and Yahoo! are the
main players in driving search traffic on the web. What are the benefits of SEO? Well, without SEO, your website will likely

How does SEO
work? It all starts with a query string (a search) entered by a visitor at a search engine's website. The search
engine spiders (bots) then look at all the websites in their database and sort those websites based on relevant information
for the queried string. The text entered by the visitor is called the keyword/phrase. If a website contains this
particular entry in prominent positions making it an important word or phrase, the search engine
spider "catches" the URL of the website and displays it in its SERPs. In such a situation, only the strongest SEO
survives. The website webmaster has a major role in achieving the best possible SEO for his/her website.
Apart from
the "keyword" criteria, there are many other factors that affect the SEO performance of a website. Things such as
the presence of internal and external links, the "freshness" of the content, and the overall link popularity of the
website, etc. In the end, search engine optimization is all about content! If you create and maintain a high quality
